How do you pre-screen and find the right service? Let’s take a minute and look at the four factors:

Licensing and insurance – It should go without saying that all plumbers must be properly and fully licensed for the work they do, plus you want them to have the right level of insurance (to protect themselves and your property if possible). You have every right to ask for evidence of proper licensing and insurance, and if they hedge on this or balk at the question, look elsewhere.

Diversity – When looking for the right provider, you want to see that they have experience (at least a few years of experience) with a wide array of issues. Should you ever get an answer of “general plumbing” work, you may want to look elsewhere. A reputable and reliable firm is very specific and will explain that they do plumbing work as diverse as sinks, toilets and baths, but also specify the areas of the home or property, including kitchens, baths and so on. They should also handle drains, sewers and more.

Residential and commercial – It is best to find a firm able to do commercial and residential services as this proves their level of skill and expertise.

Emergency – Any plumbing service unavailable at a time of emergency is not one you want to load into your contacts list!
